JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Cafe Supervisor

Based in: 47 Chalk Farm Road, Camden, NW1 8AJ

Reports to: Cafe Manager

Hours: 40 hours per week (including weekends and infrequent anti social hours)

Salary: £21,000-22,000 per/annum, depending on experience

Job Purpose: Working closely with the Café Manager to champion customer service and Coffee quality; ensuring standards are kept high, staff are well trained, menus are meeting customers’ demands and processes are put into place to create a great atmosphere for both staff and customers!

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Support and work closely with the Cafe Manager to build a successful cafe!
  • Manage and develop the drinks menu in the Luminary cafe, keeping on top of key coffee trends
  • Sourcing stock & equipment, including managing third parties such as wholesale suppliers and facilitating any necessary changes
  • Helping the Cafe Manager in ensuring coffee equipment is well looked after and maintained
  • Supervising & training the café staff to ensure that customer service is at all times of a high standard
  • Supervising & training café staff & volunteers to ensure the coffee served to customers is of a high standard
  • Serving customers and ensuring high quality coffee and other products are always served
  • Helping the Cafe Supervisor build a welcoming community within the café setting for local customers and women on Luminary programmes
  • Helping to keep up morale in the café team!
  • Getting to know customers and building good rapport with local community
  • Helping to generate ideas to market our cafe as a hub for great coffee and community
  • Organizing team training events with the café manager as and where necessary (e.g. latte art training!)
  • Keeping the standard of cleanliness in the café to a high standard (i.e. ensuring daily and weekly cleaning is done to a high level)
  • Administrative tasks during admin time in the day, organising stock, ordering, keeping track of sales and waste and coming up with innovative ideas to keep costs and waste at a minimum
  • Marketing - working closely with the Cafe Manager to come up with ideas to generate more revenue for the cafe

Who we are looking for?

We’re looking for a passionate and hardworking individual to assist our Cafe Manager in running our local Camden cafe. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and confident dealing with customers as well as championing our passion for good food and coffee. A candidate who has strong organisational skills and is passionate about building a positive working culture in a fast paced environment would be ideal!

Job Requirements and Abilities:

Necessary:

  • Barista trained & experienced
  • At least 1 years cafe experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; excellent customer service
  • Ability to take initiative and proactively problem solve
  • Knowledge of café/coffee industry and trends
  • Passionate and motivated to meet coffee sales targets
  • Determined and hardworking
  • Has the ability to work under pressure and cope with difficult situations
  • Willingness to work varied hours/days based on business needs
  • Ability to handle and lift items weighing between 0-50 pounds
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
  • Experience working in the café/coffee industry
  • Ability to do Latte Art/ Dial in confidently
  • Positive attitude and the ability to take charge of team dynamics and motivate team
  • Confident in running a shift as the team member in charge, understanding that they will be responsible for problem solving and keeping the shift running smoothly

Desirable:

  • Good organizational and administration skills
  • 2 years of Experience as a Barista
  • Experience working with women from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Experience training others in coffee/customer service
