While each role has its own requirements (see below) overall, we are looking for bakers who have the below skills and abilities.

Artisan Baker

Job Title: Artisan Baker

Based in: 71-73 Allen Road, N16 8RY and 47 Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8AJ

Reports to: Head Baker

Hours: 40 Hours per week, normally between 8-4pm from Monday-Friday

Salary: £23,339/annum

Job Purpose: Being a key part of the Luminary bakery team and becoming confident at producing the whole Luminary range of artisan baked goods (from beautiful artisan Wedding and Celebration cakes to Letterbox Brownies) working closely with the Head Baker and the rest of the bakery team to ensure that every Luminary baked good is consistently excellent.

WEEKEND Artisan Baker

Job Title: Weekend Artisan Baker

Based in: 71-73 Allen Road, N16 8RY and 47 Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8AJ

Reports to: Head Baker

Hours: 16 Hours per week between Friday-Sunday, with flexibility for extra shifts if suitable

Salary: £11.20/hour

Job Purpose: Icing and decorating Wedding and Celebration Cakes; producing goods for the café for the weekend and upcoming week; pre-baking as required.

Cover baker

Job Title: Cover Baker

Based in: 71-73 Allen Road, N16 8RY and 47 Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8AJ

Reports to: Head Baker

Hours: 16 Hours per week with flexibility for extra cover shifts as required

Salary: £11.20/hour (Available on PAYE or freelance basis)

Job Purpose: Supporting the Luminary bakery team where needed, whether it’s a large corporate order of Letterbox Brownies; fulfilling consumer orders from the e-commerce store; or icing and decorating Celebration Cakes for special occasions

Key job responsibilities across the team

  • Assisting the Head Baker & rest of the bakery team in meeting production deadlines
  • Icing & decorating celebration cakes, batch-baking traybakes, layer cakes and cookies, preparing
    corporate or bespoke orders, and fulfilling e-commerce orders
  • Assisting in product development for a variety of products for consumer or corporate clients
  • Ensuring that every product that leaves the bakery is to the highest quality and standard
  • Fulfilling any appropriate tasks the Head Baker requires (e.g., ordering, packaging, or logistics)
  • Maintaining food hygiene and safety standards as per company policy and encouraging the rest
    of the bakery team to follow correct processes and procedures



  • Have at least one year of experience in a professional bakery (Or Luminary Training Programme)
  • Ability to bake high quality products that are uniform and consistent
  • Ability to ice and decorate artisan celebration cakes and wedding cakes
  • Motivated and hard-working, able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
  • Collaborative and hardworking
  • Ability to handle and lift items weighing between 0-50 pounds
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
  • Experience working with disadvantaged individuals or groups
  • Experience batch baking traybakes, layer cakes and cookies
  • Willingness to work varied hours or days based on business needs
